Safety harness training in Manchester: a practical half-day course on choosing, inspecting, fitting and using a harness, in Pendlebury or on your site.
Safety harness training in Manchester matters because a harness that is badly fitted, poorly inspected or clipped to the wrong point can do almost as much harm as no harness at all. This course is practical from start to finish: delegates handle, inspect and fit real equipment rather than watching a demonstration.
When restraint is the right choice and when fall arrest is needed. How to select a harness, lanyard and anchor for the task. How to carry out a pre-use inspection and recognise damage that should take equipment out of service. How to fit a harness so it actually protects you. And why a rescue plan must be in place before anyone relies on fall arrest.
Roofers, steel erectors, scaffolders, maintenance teams and anyone working near an unprotected edge across Greater Manchester.
For harness use in a boom or static boom basket, IPAF Harness for MEWPs is the more specific course.
The course covers four modules in a single half day of four hours. Awareness covers fall-protection principles and the law. User covers choosing, fitting and using a full-body harness and lanyard, anchorage and risk assessment. Inspection covers pre-use and formal checks, storage and records. Finally, Leading Edge covers work where a fall could drag the lanyard over a sharp or unprotected edge, such as a flat roof or a steel deck.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require anyone working at height to be competent. On completion, you receive a certificate of training confirming you have been trained in the correct use, inspection and anchorage of a full-body harness and lanyard. That provides the training element of competence for you and your employer.
Courses run Monday to Saturday at our training centre at Agecroft, Pendlebury, a short drive from Junction 17 of the M60. For four or more delegates, we can train on your site anywhere in Greater Manchester. You are welcome to bring your own harness and lanyard to be fitted and inspected.
