Half-day abrasive wheels training in Manchester on the safe selection, mounting, use and inspection of cutting and grinding wheels, meeting PUWER 1998. At our Pendlebury venue or on your site across Greater Manchester.
Abrasive wheels training in Manchester gives operatives the knowledge to select, mount, use and inspect cutting and grinding wheels safely, and to cut the risk of injury from disc failure and misuse. Angle grinders, cut-off saws and bench grinders are on almost every construction, fabrication and maintenance job across Greater Manchester, and a wheel that is wrongly mounted, over-speeded or damaged can burst with enough force to cause serious injury.
The course begins with the relevant legislation and the hazards and occupational health issues that come with cutting and grinding. It then covers the types of wheel and disc available and how to select the right one for the job and the machine. Delegates learn safe methods of mounting and balancing, the correct use of guards, and the personal protective equipment the work needs.
Inspection and storage make up the other half. Delegates leave able to spot a damaged, contaminated or out-of-date wheel before it is fitted, and to store wheels so they stay serviceable. The course also sets out the responsibilities of both employer and employee, so everyone understands where their duties begin and end.
It is a half-day course combining classroom theory with a practical demonstration, so delegates see correct mounting and inspection carried out rather than only reading about it. No prior experience is needed, and it suits newcomers as well as people refreshing skills they already have.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require that work equipment is used only by people who have received adequate training. On successful completion delegates receive a three-year certificate of competence covering awareness, use and inspection.
The course runs from 8am to 1pm, Monday to Saturday, at our training centre in Pendlebury, a short drive from Junction 17 of the M60, with on-site parking. For four or more delegates we can train your team at your own workshop or site anywhere in Greater Manchester. Training the same team on other risks?
