The One Man Tower gives four platform heights — 1.1m, 2.1m, 3.1m and 4.1m — for a working height range of roughly 3.1m to 6.1m. The One Man Tower +Plus adds 5.1m and 6.1m platforms and is rated for two people rather than one, taking you to around 8.1m working height. If the job is a single operative under about 6m, the standard unit is the cheaper hire; if you need the extra height or a second person on the deck, take the +Plus.
The base unit becomes a trolley for storage and transport, so the tower loads into a van, wheels across a car park and passes through a standard doorway without being carried in pieces. On facilities and reactive maintenance work where the operative visits several sites in a day, that is usually what decides the hire.
Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 the person assembling a mobile access tower must be competent, and that applies whether there is one of them or four. In practice it means a valid PASMA Towers for Users card, and we run those courses from our Croydon centre. For heights beyond this range, a single width tower uses the same 0.72m frame width and goes considerably taller.
