Overview

About This Course

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training from Access Towers gives your workplace a qualified emergency first aider in a single day. With more than 20 years of training experience, we help over 350 trainees each month gain work-at-height and safety qualifications across London and the South East. Our helpful bookings team make it easy to arrange your first aid training, whether you are booking for yourself, your team or someone else.

What the Course Covers

The course is practical and hands-on, delivered over a minimum of six hours by an experienced instructor. It covers the role and responsibilities of the first aider, assessing an incident, and managing an unresponsive casualty. Delegates then practise CPR and the use of an AED (defibrillator), together with choking, shock, seizures, wounds and bleeding, and minor injuries. Consequently, delegates leave able to act in the first few minutes of an emergency, which is when it matters most.

How the Training Is Delivered

This is a one-day course, so it takes minimal time off the job. There are no prerequisites and no prior experience is needed, which makes it suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone refreshing an expired certificate. Assessment is by continuous practical observation alongside a short theory element, rather than a formal written exam. We run the course at our Croydon centre or on site at your premises, with group discounts available.

Your Certificate and the Law

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require every employer to provide adequate first aid equipment, facilities and people. A first aid needs assessment determines what counts as adequate for your workplace. Emergency First Aid at Work generally suits lower-hazard sites such as offices, shops and warehouses, whereas higher-risk workplaces may need the three-day First Aid at Work qualification. On successful completion, delegates receive a nationally recognised certificate valid for three years. We recommend an annual refresher in between to keep skills current.
