Overview

About This Course

With more than 20 years of training experience, Access Towers helps over 350 trainees each month gain work-at-height and safety qualifications across London and the South East. Our helpful bookings team make it easy to arrange your asbestos awareness training — whether you're training yourself, your team, or someone else.

This UKATA-certified Asbestos Awareness course meets the requirements of Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Over a half-day session it explains the properties of asbestos and its effects on health, the types, uses and most common locations of asbestos in buildings, how to identify materials that may contain asbestos, current legislation and guidance, everyone's role in reducing risk, and the correct procedures to follow if you encounter or accidentally disturb a suspected asbestos-containing material. Delegates also see a range of asbestos sample types.

Assessment is by a multiple-choice test, with an 80% pass mark required for the UKATA certificate. The certificate is valid for one year, with annual refresher training required to stay current. Please note this is an awareness course only — it does not train you to work with asbestos, which must be carried out by suitably trained and, where required, licensed personnel. We deliver the course at our Croydon centre or on site at your premises across London and the South East, with group discounts available.

No. This is an awareness course only. It helps you avoid disturbing asbestos and know what to do if you find it — it does not train or authorise you to work with or remove asbestos, which requires separate, higher-level training and often a licensed contractor.

Anyone whose work could foreseeably disturb asbestos — electricians, plumbers, joiners, maintenance, demolition and refurbishment workers, surveyors and more. CAR 2012 requires it for these roles.

The UKATA certificate is valid for one year. UKATA recommends annual refresher training to stay current.

By a multiple-choice test, with an 80% pass mark required for the UKATA certificate.
