Practical safety harness training across four modules — Awareness, User, Inspection and Leading Edge. Learn the correct use, inspection and secure anchorage of fall-protection equipment and receive a certificate of training on completion. At our Croydon centre or on site across London and the South East.
Safety harness training from Access Towers is practical, hands-on and delivered across four modules, so you can take the level that matches your role. With more than 20 years of training experience, we help over 350 trainees each month gain work-at-height and safety qualifications across London and the South East. Our helpful bookings team make it easy to arrange your training, whether you are booking for yourself, your team or someone else.
The Awareness module gives a grounding in fall-protection principles and the law, for anyone who works with or around harnesses. The User module then covers the practical skills of choosing, fitting and using a full-body harness and lanyard correctly. It also covers working safely from height, secure anchorage and site risk assessment.
The Inspection module teaches the correct process for pre-use and formal inspection of harnesses and lanyards. In addition, it covers the wear, damage and contamination that mean equipment must be taken out of service, along with storage and record-keeping. Finally, the Leading Edge module covers work where a fall could take the lanyard over a sharp or leading edge, such as flat roofs and steel decking. It includes the selection and use of edge-tested equipment, plus the techniques that reduce the risk in these higher-hazard situations.
Across the course, participants learn how to safely work from height, conduct site risk assessments, and understand the requirements in a rescue scenario. Moreover, the training combines classroom theory with hands-on practical fitting and inspection. You are welcome to bring your own harness and lanyard along to be fitted and inspected.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require that no person works at height unless competent to do so, or is being trained under the supervision of a competent person. Completing our harness training gives you the training element of that competence. On successful completion, attendees receive a certificate of training. Training can be completed at our Croydon centre or at your place of work, with group discounts available.
Working mainly in a MEWP? Our IPAF Harness Training course is the IPAF-specific version of this training, and our IPAF training courses cover operator qualifications for scissor lifts and booms. For tower work, see PASMA training or our broader Work at Height Training course, and browse the access equipment hire range for the job itself.

Training four or more people? We'll bring the course to your site or offices on a date that suits you — no travel, no downtime.
Requires a minimum of 4 attendees
Four: Awareness (fall-protection principles and the law), User (choosing, fitting and safely using a harness and lanyard, anchorage and risk assessment), Inspection (pre-use and formal inspection, storage and records), and Leading Edge (work where a fall could take the lanyard over a sharp edge, and the edge-tested equipment and techniques needed).
Leading-edge work is where a fall could drag the lanyard over a sharp or unprotected edge — for example on a flat roof or steel deck. This module covers the specific hazards, the selection and use of edge-tested (sharp-edge-rated) equipment, and the techniques that reduce the risk in these situations.
A certificate of training confirming you have completed the course in the correct use, inspection and anchorage of a full-body harness and lanyard.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require that anyone working at height is competent to do so. This course provides the training element of that competence for you and your company.
