Half-day abrasive wheels training on the safe selection, mounting, use and inspection of cutting and grinding wheels, meeting PUWER 1998. Reduce the risk of serious injury from disc failure and misuse. At our Croydon centre or on site across London and the South East.
Abrasive wheels training from Access Towers gives you the knowledge to select, mount, use and inspect abrasive wheels safely, and to cut the risk of injury from disc failure and misuse. With more than 20 years of training experience, we help over 350 trainees each month gain work-at-height and safety qualifications across London and the South East. Our helpful bookings team make it easy to arrange your training, whether you are booking for yourself, your team or someone else.
The course begins with the relevant legislation and the hazards and occupational health issues that come with cutting and grinding. It then moves on to the types of wheel and disc available and how to select the right one for the job and the machine. Delegates learn safe methods of mounting and balancing, together with the correct use of guards, and personal protective equipment.
Inspection and storage form the other half of the course. Consequently, delegates leave able to spot a damaged, contaminated or out-of-date wheel before it is fitted, and to store wheels so they stay serviceable. Finally, the course sets out the responsibilities of both employer and employee, so everyone understands where their duties begin and end.
This is a short half-day course, so it takes minimal time off the job. It combines classroom theory with a practical demonstration, which means delegates see correct mounting and inspection carried out rather than only reading about it. No prior experience is needed, and the course suits both newcomers and people refreshing skills they already have.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require that work equipment is used only by people who have received adequate training. Abrasive wheels training provides exactly that competence, for you and for your employer. On successful completion, delegates receive a three-year certificate of competence covering awareness, use and inspection.
